What is Data Skills for Public Health?This course introduces the data used in public health. It covers definitions of common terms associated with data and explains the differences between qualitative and quantitative data. The course also teaches data collecting mechanisms and methodologies and covers analysis and presentation of data using charts and graphs. Overall, it increases your familiarity with data and its interpretation to use appropriately in public health decision making. At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Use data to develop a brief statement of a public health problem.
- Describe common epidemiological methods
- Calculate relative risk and odds ratios.
- Describe potential threats to data validity.
- Identify how to use data to develop program or policy decisions.
- Describe public health informatics.
